Product Operations Scorecard for Fashion Brands

Last verified: 25 October 2026

Short answer: answer 15 quick questions about how your brand runs product data, development projects, costing, customer engagement and Digital Product Passport readiness. You get a score out of 100, a score for each area and the three changes that would help you most. It takes about 3 minutes.

What does the scorecard cover?

Five areas, three questions each, with equal weight:

How is the score calculated?

Every answer is worth 0 to 3 points, so each area can score up to 9 points and the whole scorecard up to 45. We show the total as a score out of 100 and place it in one of three tiers:

  • Spreadsheet stage (0–40): most work still runs on spreadsheets, inboxes and memory. A few small changes make a big difference.
  • Building momentum (42–69): the basics are in place, with gaps between data, projects and costing.
  • Ahead of the curve (71–100): most of your product information already lives in one place.

Your top priorities are the areas with the lowest scores, each with one practical next step.

Why are Digital Product Passports part of it?

The EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) will require Digital Product Passports for textiles, but it is not mandatory for textiles yet. The Commission plans to adopt the textile delegated act in Q4 2027, and the requirements can apply no earlier than 18 months after it enters into force. That points to mid-to-late 2029 at the earliest, which is our estimate, not an official date. Every date is in our ESPR Textile DPP Tracker.

The data a passport needs (materials, suppliers, certificates, care) is the same data that runs your product development. That’s why the scorecard looks at all five areas together. For a step-by-step list, see the DPP data checklist, and for the tools, our guides to Digital Product Passport software and fashion PLM.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the scorecard take?

About 3 minutes. There are 15 multiple-choice questions, and you can go back and change an answer before you see your result.

Do I need an account?

No. You answer the questions, then add your name, email and company to see your result.

What happens to my answers?

If you agree, Portia saves your answers and contact details so we can follow up about your result. We don’t add you to a newsletter. Read our privacy policy for details.

Does a high score mean my brand is ready for the EU passport rules?

No. The scorecard is a quick self-assessment, not a compliance check. The textile requirements are not final yet, so treat your result as a starting point for planning.
